main league Liiga has an attendance average of 4,850
people Pesäpallo, also referred to as “Finnish
baseball” is a fast
moving bat-and-ball sport. It was created in the 1920s by
Lauri “Tahko”
Pihkala, a right-wing activist, who supported eugenics as
a means to improve
the military prowess of the Finnish people. Pesäpallo is the national game of
Finland. It is a
combination of traditional ball-batting team games and
American baseball. The
game was first developed by Lauri “Tahko” Pihkala in the
1920´s, and in the
summer of 2002 pesäpallo celebrated its 80th anniversary. |
